Course 1: Databricks Lakehouse Fundamentals

Time: 8:30am - 12:15pm AEDT

Audience: This course is suited for beginners to Databricks


Description: With the Lakehouse architecture quickly becoming the new industry standard for data and AI, this course will get you up to speed on the core capabilities of the data lakehouse. You will earn a badge upon the successful completion of the course quiz to share on your LinkedIn profile and resume. The training will cover:

  • Intro to Databricks Lakehouse Platform
  • Intro to Databricks SQL
  • Intro to Data Science and Engineering Workspace
  • Intro to Databricks Machine Learning

Course 2: Get started with Data Engineering in the Databricks Lakehouse Platform

Time: 1:30pm - 5:00pm AEDT

Hands-on labs: Yes

Audience: This course is suited for data engineering professionals with some Databricks experience and wanting to get more proficient. A 75% discount will be offered to take the certification exam at your own time.


Learning objectives

  • Use the Databricks Data Science and Engineering Workspace to perform common code development tasks in a data engineering workflow.
  • Extract data from a variety of sources and transform complex data using Spark SQL
  • Create and perform incremental updates to Delta tables using Spark SQL DDL

 

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for both versions of this course (Spark SQL and PySpark):

  • Beginner familiarity with cloud computing concepts (virtual machines, object storage, etc.)
  • Production experience working with data warehouses and data lakes
  • Familiarity with basic SQL concepts (select, filter, groupby, join, etc)
  • Beginner familiarity with core concepts of the Databricks Lakehouse.

Certification Exam Room

Times: 8:15am, 10:30am, 12:45pm and 3:00pm

Duration: 2hours

Audience: This course is suited for more advanced users of Databricks who have completed previous accreditations or have extensive experience using the Databricks platform in their profession.


Validate your data and AI skills in the Databricks Lakehouse Platform by getting certified free of charge (normally U$200 RRP).

  • Data Analyst Associate Certification Exam
  • Data Engineer Associate Certification Exam 
  • Data Engineer Professional Certification Exam
  • Machine Learning Associate Certification Exam
  • Machine Learning Professional Certification Exam 


NB: Participants joining both training courses will not have the chance to sit for their certification exam (due to timing conflicts). Instead, participants will be provided with a 75% discount to take the certification exam on their own time. Following registration, please standby for an email with your exam time allocation. We will do our best to allocate you to your preferred time, but cannot be guaranteed (i.e. based on seat availability).

Successful participants who pass their accreditation and certification exam are also able to enjoy a celebratory toast to their new skills unlocked at the Lakehouse Community Night from 5:30pm at Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf.
